Shopping and train stations

Day two.

Eva and me had optimistically decided to get up early and explore the city before it became too hot (for some of us). Haha, we slept like children until noon! But then we felt rested and ready to go out.

We had a merry and relaxed time, strolling down the streets of central Madrid, and not too surprisingly we rather quickly found ourselves knee-deep in much appreciated shopping. After shopping one needs refreshments, and what could be better than ice-cream?
One of the two fountains of 'Plaza del Sol' is very matching my dress and shopping-bag perfectly.

When Anna came over (to stay with us the whole weekend!) we had to show her the one shop in particular that we spent most of the afternoon in. This resulted in a couple of more hours shopping and we started to realize that it was probably a good thing to leave the boys (my brother and father) back in Sweden.

After this we decided to visit the main train station in Madrid. This may sound like a strange thing to do but you see, there is a tropical forest inside the station! With all kinds of palms and trees, and even turtles.
Here we are in newly bought clothes, looking as happy as we're feeling.

Some of the trees were utterly huge, with leaves twice the size of us.

To the left is a picture of me and Eva, feeling the luxury of being able to use the Metro. Just as in London and Paris, we found it extremely convenient.

Afterwards we went to 'Parque de Retiro' which is, I think, the biggest park in Madrid.

Here we stayed until it was dark outside, and took some pictures just for the fun of it.

A nice ending of a good day.

Cheers
